Niepodległość i Pamięć
The humanities periodical Independence and Memory has a long-standing tradition. It has been published on the publishing market since 1994.
The quarterly periodical Independence and Remembrance is devoted to native history, culture and art, and much attention is paid to issues concerning the Polish independence, social and civic movements throughout the 18th-20th centuries.
In the pages of the periodical "Independence and Memory" we present articles, materials devoted to museology, i.e. the sector in which the Museum of Independence in Warsaw actively participates, sources, reviews, bibliographies. We hope that the periodical "Niepodległość i Pamięć" will become not only a place to share knowledge with you, but also a field for creative polemics with scientists and the most important institutions in the country and the world.
The printing of the periodical "Niepodległość i Pamięć" is possible thanks to co-financing from funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Fund for the Promotion of Culture and from funds of the Mazovian Voivodship Self-government.
Archival issues of the periodical Niepodległość i Pamięć are also available in the Digital Library Federation and on the website of the Mazovian Digital Library.
The Ministry of Education and Science awarded 'Niepodległość i Pamięć' 20 points in the latest evaluation of Polish periodicals on 9 February 2021.

Information on the procedures of the periodical "Independence and Memory"
The Editorial Board of the quarterly "Independence and Memory" accepts and respects the established principle that "ghostwriting" and "guest authorship" constitute a breach of scientific integrity. Any instances of such occurrences that are discovered will, once documented, be firmly stigmatised as manifestations of a reprehensible breach of ethical principles accepted in the world of science.
The editors apply the recommendations contained in the study Good practices in review procedures in science.
Information on licensing and openness
Review procedures for the periodical "Independence and Memory"
1. The review procedure applies to all articles submitted by authors - after an initial formal assessment by the editorial board. This does not apply to articles ordered by the Editor.
2. Submission of an article to the editorial office is tantamount to the author's consent to undergo the review procedure adopted by the periodical.
3. In the case of co-authored publications, it is necessary to specify the precise contribution of each author to the work submitted and to make a relevant statement in the text metrics document.
4. Each article is referred to two reviewers, a list of which is published annually on the 'Independence and Memory' website and in individual issues in the paper version.
5. All articles are reviewed on a confidential and mutually anonymous basis.
6. The author, after reading the reviews, corrects the article and sends it back to the editor.
7. The reviewing procedure is in accordance with the recommendations of the Ethics in Science Team presented in the publication Good practices in reviewing procedures in science (Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Warsaw 2011).
8. The reviewing procedure takes into account the following principles:
- at least two independent reviewers from outside the scientific unit affiliated by the author of the publication shall be appointed to evaluate each publication,
- the author or authors of the publication and reviewers do not know each other's identities (double-blind review process); in other cases, the reviewer signs a declaration of no conflict of interest (a conflict of interest is understood as direct personal relations between the reviewer and the author, in particular kinship up to the second degree, marriage, relations of professional subordination or direct scientific cooperation in the last two years preceding the year of preparing the review),
- the written review shall contain a clear conclusion of the reviewer as to the conditions for acceptance or rejection of the article for publication,
- the criteria for eligibility or rejection of the publication and the review form, if any, shall be made publicly available on the periodical's website or in each issue of the periodical,
- The names of reviewers of individual publications or issues of the periodical are not disclosed.
